Students: Please help be my eyes and ears around campus. If you see any bullying around campus, please report it to Miss Patel or drop an anonymous note in the "Bully Box" (Previously called the Student Concern Box) located in the Library.
Let's work together to stop bullying at Santiago! A few months ago, we had an assembly called The
Pledge. This trimester's Guidance Lesson focused on carrying on the theme of being Part of the Solution, not part of the problem. Bullying can be defined as unwanted, aggressive behavior towards another that is repetitive Behaviors that can be considered bullying: Name calling Teasing Threatening others Spreading Rumors Physical Harm (beating up, pushing, shoving, spitting on) Singling out, purposely leaving others out Sending threatening texts or emails Posting pictures or comments about another person without their consent Why people bully: Low self-esteem To fit in They were bullied themselves To avoid others seeing their true self To take attention off themselves Problems at home Stress Remember: the bullying won't stop until you bring it to an adult's attention! Report bullying to a trusted adult as SOON as it happens. Last week, Santanas celebrated Red Ribbon Week. This is a week dedicated to celebrating our Pledge to be drug free. The week was filled with games and competitions at lunch and during Primetime. On Thursday, students were encouraged to red a plain red shirt to show their Red Ribbon Week spirit. Mrs. Grewal's Primetime class had the most participation with 93% participation! The week culminated with a Red Ribbon Week Door Decoration contest. The winners were: 3rd place: Mrs. Huber's Primetime 2nd place: Mrs. Hunsberger's Primetime 1st Place: Mr. Askenaze's Primetime (pictured) GOOD JOB students and teachers! Be part of the SOLUTION, not part of the problem. |
