A few months ago, we had an assembly called The
Pledge. This trimester's Guidance Lesson focused on carrying on the theme of
being Part of the Solution, not part of the problem.
Bullying can be defined as unwanted,
aggressive behavior towards another
that is repetitive
Behaviors that can be considered bullying:
Name calling
Teasing
Threatening others
Spreading Rumors
Physical Harm (beating up, pushing, shoving, spitting on)
Singling out, purposely leaving others out
Sending threatening texts or emails
Posting pictures or comments about another person without their consent
Why people bully:
Low self-esteem
To fit in
They were bullied themselves
To avoid others seeing their true self
To take attention off themselves
Problems at home
Stress
Remember:
the bullying won't stop until you bring it to an adult's attention! Report bullying to a trusted adult as SOON as it happens.
